SOLS 7/31

I don't know how others do it. I really don't. Today we got home at 5:30 and the last thing I wanted to do was cook dinner. But the hamburger HAD to be cooked and I had promised my husband that I would make a meatloaf, so I started in as soon as I got my coat off. Meatloaf is pretty easy. I don't mind making it. My husband chopped the onion and cut up the parsley, while I did everything else. Once I got the meatloaf in the oven, I started on the scallop potatoes. Thankfully, my husband washed up yesterday's dishes while dinner cooked and I hunted for the installation disk to the printer I had given a colleague.

Dinner was a little late, but a success. After cleaning up the kitchen and putting away left overs, it was nearly 8pm. I still needed to write my slice of life and do some lesson prep for tomorrow. Really, I don't know how people who have children or second jobs do it. God bless you!

  1. Late days at school make it hard to live your life at home. You are lucky to get some help in the kitchen. Work a little, then get some rest.

  2. I am pregnant with my first child now and worry all the time about how I am going to do it! It's amazing that making dinner and doing dishes can take up so much time!

  3. Meatloaf is great! I've never put parsley in mine though. What other ingredients do you put in it?

Hoping you can relax after this post.

  4. Cathy- I use onion, bread, eggs, milk, some oregano and basil, a little salt and pepper. That's it. It's the recipe from the Better Homes and Garden cookbook (the red binder- my cooking bible, well, that and my Rival crock pot cook books I got from the grocery store!)

  5. As a new mom of 10 month old twin girls, I'll tell you it can be hard, but some how, some way you manage and figure things out. I can't imagine life without them and wonder how we spent our time before their arrival! Now, we learned to be more efficient, make a priorities list, and stick with the schedule! Everything eventually gets done. . . even if somethings have to wait a day or two or three or more! Relax and put your feet up. You deserve it.

  6. I think everyone is exhausted after a long day. You learn to juggle your life when you have kids. You are just tired in a different way. Relax and remember that some of it can wait until tomorrow. ;)

  7. I think it's great that you took the time for Slice of Life, and shared that part of a life that's often overlooked, overload. The meal sounded good & again you took the time. I depend on our grocery deli some of the time-saves some of the sanity around time management.

  8. There is always so much to do, even after your kids are grown! I can rarely get to bed before midnight. I guess we're in good company!

  9. Sometimes I wonder how I did it as well and included going to college. I always told people, you just do it, don't think about it. The more you stop to think about it, the more overwhelming it gets.
